The very unsettling haunting of the Wyrick Family
And how all the women in their family could see spirits.

Three-year-old Heidi Wyrick could see spirits. The young Wyrick family had moved to the town of Ellerslie, Georgia after buying their first house in 1989. The town was very small with a population of just over 3,000 people at the time. The parents, Andrew and Lisa, wanted to move to the town to have a fresh start and to be in a safe place to raise a family.
Shortly after moving in, Heidi had a new imaginary friend.
Andrew and Lisa didn’t think much of Heidi’s new imaginary friend at first. Lisa thought it was odd that Heidi would attempt to have full conversations with this friend and eventually decided to ask Heidi about it. Heidi said described her new friend as being an old man dressed in a black suit and a top hat. Lisa immediately thought it was strange that Heidi’s imaginary friend wasn’t a child like her. Heidi told her mom that his name was Mr. Gordy and that they would play outside on the swings and in her room together.
Lisa witnessed Heidi on a few occasions with her hand reaching upwards and floating in the air like she was holding an invisible person’s hand. Lisa would ask whose hand she was holding, and Heidi would say that it was Mr. Gordy. Heidi spoke about Mr. Gordy a lot and this friend seemed to be around all the time. While she thought it was peculiar, Lisa still tried to support her daughter assuming that she was just trying to cope with the move.
“I saw him up until I was eight years old, on an everyday basis. We would sit and have conversions and then he would take me by the hand, and we would go and play on the swing,”
Heidi explained years later, reminiscing the time that she had no idea Mr. Gordy wasn’t real when she was a kid.
One day, Heidi went to answer the door when the doorbell rang. Heidi saw a man with an injured hand and a blood-soaked shirt standing in the doorway. She hurried to tell her mom that an injured man by the name of Lon was at the door, and for good reason, Lisa was very concerned. When Lisa gets to the door, she doesn’t see any man. She called Andrew and asked him to come home because she thought a man was…
